It is a Norwegian posession and there is a scientific research station there. It will have been 10 years since the last activation and is listed as #2 on the DXCC most wanted list. Activation was aborted but will be rescheduled for possibly 2019.
Baker Island 2018
Baker Island is an uninhabited atoll located just north of the equator midway between Hawaii and Australia in the Pacific Ocean. It is now a wildlife refuge operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It has not been visited by ham radio operators since 2002 and is now the 4th most wanted entity in the DXCC program. Activation will be in June 2018 using the call sign KH1/KH7Z.
